K-9 Soldiers: Vietnam and After (Hellgate Memories Series.)
Published in Paperback by Hellgate Press (January, 1999)
Author: Paul B. Morgan

K-9 Soldiers Revisited
I don't often re-read a book in the same decade, but after recently re-reading K-9 Sodiers, Vietnam and After, I learned over the "NET", that Suzie's story is to be aired on Discovery Channel early next year. I think this is SUPER, giving our four-footed heroes some much deserved recognition. ... For readers who haven't read K-9 Soldiers, you really should. It's the kind of book you won't put down until you have reached the back cover. ... For those of us, who have read it, I heartly recommend Paul Morgan's barely fictionalized account of behind the lines action around the Cambodian border, entitled "The Parrot's Beak". This is another slam 'em, bam 'em, damned good read. You can taste the smoke of battle and feel the humidity and tension ... go now ... read "K-9 Soldiers", read "The Parrot's Beak" ... Look for Suzie's story, it's to be featured on Animal X, Discovery Channel in 2001 .... AND K-9 officers attention ... "K-9 Soldier's" is a must read for you, I understand some K-9 units consider it to be one of their manuals!

K-9 Soldiers
Paul Morgan's book K-9 Soldiers: Vietnam and After is a story of Paul's military life from beginning to end and the intense training this soldier endured to become a U.S. Army Green Beret with two tours in Vietnam. There are stories about Suzie his faithful German Shepherd that saved him and his buddies more than once in the jungles and rice fields of Southeast Asia. After the military he started his own K-9 security business. The many stories that he tells about his K-9 companion's will bring tears to your eyes and make you smile.

A Magical Course in Tarot: Reading the Cards in a Whole New Way
Published in Paperback by Conari Pr (09 February, 2002)
Authors: Michele Morgan and Rebecca Richards
Average review score:

A Magical Journey
Michele takes the reader on a magical journey of Tarot. Most books written on Tarot use the same approach and after reading many books one can become confused on what is the real meaning of the cards. It then becomes a game of memorization. The real key is lost that Michele has captured in this book which is using your intuition and unlocking it. She using a delightful, witty approach that leaves one uplifted and ready to pick up any deck and instantly read it with amazing results. Thank you Michele for making the cards come alive. Your passion and dedication is magical.

Refreshing and Renewing
I have been a student of the tarot for the past three years, and have read so many books and how to manuals! Then along comes Michele Morgan's "A Magical Course in Tarot".- And Believe me it truly is magical! The book is at once partly traditional in nature, but totally refreshing because Michele Morgan also offers us a renewed way to view all the traditional attitudes about Tarot, while at the same time allowing and encouraging the reader to experiment and lean toward your own feelings, interpretations and intuition. Reading this book was a liberating experience for me. The expamples and excercises she uses in the book are easy to do and create an interactive tarot card adventure. Most important is Michele's tongue in cheek writing style. Never forcing or overwhelming, she has the ability to laugh at herself, and to be free to explore new territory. She incorporates simple explanations, with an often humorous writing style the reader can easily relate to. The reader will feel as if he knows Michele or would like to meet her. I read this book very quickly because of her writing style, and would highly recommend it to any one interested in the tarot. It doesn't matter if you are an oldie or a newbie. Read this book!

best tarot book, ever
I have been attracted to tarot for many, many years but never could make sense of the booklets that come with the decks or the books you can buy separately. I would do a spread, read the booklet and then say, "ok this makes a little sense, but not much," and put the deck away for another year.

Then along comes this book! Wow, what an eye-opener. Michele Morgan takes the reader on a beautiful journey to their own intuition using tarot. The cards finally make sense because I intrepret them for me, instead of by trying to wade through jumbled meanings, user guidelines, and rules. Everything in the card is looked at to enhance your understanding--colours, numbers, figures, how one card meshes into another--it's brilliant.

It doesn't matter what deck you use--this book is appropriate to all of them, because it teaches you to listen to yourself.

I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a clear, satisfying, and EASY, tarot reading!

About the human spirit, loving freedom, life and each other.
"The Writings on the Wall" by Terry Tillman is my favorite Cold War book. I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with the author shortly after the book was published and learned that his book is more than just historical - it is about the universal human spirit of loving freedon, life and each other. I commend the book to anyone interested in enhancing international understanding and world peace.

... it captures the essence of the times and the humanness.
"The Writings on the Wall" by Terry Tillman is without a doubt my favorite book on the Cold War and the breaking down of the Berlin Wall. In graphic pictures and quotes it captures the essence of the times and the humanness of what was going on, not just a factual account.

Wonderful book of powerful photographs and pearls of wisdom
"The Writings on the Wall" by Terry Tillman is a wonderful book of powerful photographs and pearls of wisdom by various people. The book inspired me to think about many levels of walls that we build, from emotional to the physical, and the power we have to knock them down.

The Freshour Cylinders
Published in Paperback by MacMurray & Beck Communication (May, 2000)
Author: Speer Morgan
Average review score:

I stayed up all night reading this book
Speer Morgan's latest novel, The Freshour Cylinders, is an engaging combination of edge-of-your-seat mystery and historical drama. The novel is set in 1930s Arkansas and Oklahoma and traces the tribulations of Tom Freshour (who some may remember as the strong and silent orphan from The Whipping Boy) as he tries to discover why people who are involved with a local Indian burial mound are turning up dead. Morgan's characters, from the dashing Tom to the sexy Rainy to the contrary office typewriter which has a habit of jumping off the desk, are so lovingly detailed that they are often simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking. It is this wealth of engaging characters as much as the twists and turns of the plot that will keep you reading.

Tom Freshour is still as strong and stoic as he was in The Whipping Boy but has gained that wry recklessness that turns action heros into legends. His steamy romance with Rainy and his forays into the mystery that involves both of them resurrect old ghosts so that Tom is not only forced to play detective but must also confront questions about his own heritage. As the mystery barrels along, Morgan manages to infuse the novel with a good dose of fascinating history and intriguing psychological conflict. This is a beautifully written story of a man struggling with issues that have violently leapt from the personal to the political while navigating the astonishing events that are piling up around him. You won't be able to put this book down.

A vivid and beautifully written novel
What a fine book The Freshour Cylinders is! It was the kind of reading experience that peopled my daydreams and nightdreams with vivid characters in exquisite detail. I felt like a time-traveller, transported to an exotic location, immersed in a time and place that, before this book, had little clarity to me. I have nothing but praise for this book -- it was thoroughly enjoyable and having to put it down put me in a bad mood. It's a book to savor for its splendid characters, dead-on dialogue, cinemascope descriptions of place and atmosphere, and driving plot. It's the kind of unbelieveable story that becomes completely believeable in the expert telling. I couldn't predict where I was being taken, like being driven through the Winding Stair Mountains in heavy fog, and I was thankful that a writer with unerring skill was at the wheel. Speer Morgan has an unfailing and incredible sense of historical accuracy. I was completely convinced that these characters were real. In addition to the pleasures of pure storytelling and exotic place, Freshour provided an even deeper satisfaction. It's such a powerful and harrowing book about the past: about the way our cultural past affects us collectively and the way we are each affected by our individual past. Tom Freshour, being half white, half Indian, is such a good character for this unfolding. And what a stunning indictment of white greed and American justice!

I stayed up all night to finish this book!
Speer Morgan's latest novel, The Freshour Cylinders is the most captivating book I've read in a long time. It's an edge-of-your-seat mystery that includes a steamy romance and a great deal of fascinating history. All of the characters, from the protagonist, Tom Freshour (who some may remember as the strong silent orphan in The Whipping Boy) to the malfunctioning typewriter with a propensity for throwing itself off the desk are so skillfully detailed that they are simultaneously humorous and heartbreaking.

Tom Freshour is still strong and somewhat stoic in this book but has acquired an edge of that wry recklessness that tranforms action hero into legend. In this intriguing account of a newly discovered Indian burial mound and the murders that surround it, Morgan plunges us into the gripping history of 1930's Arkansas and Oklahoma and the drama of Freshour's own struggles with old ghosts and new challenges. Beyond the pleasure of a smart mystery, The Freshour Cylinders offers a moving story a man dealing with problems that span the personal and the political. You won't be able to put it down!

Spellbound: My Journey Through a Tangled Web of Success
Published in Paperback by Sandy Creek Publishing (01 January, 1998)
Author: Robert Morgan Styler
Average review score:

A "must read" for anyone involved in the mlm industry!
I was involved with Equinox for several years. Since I lived on the West coast at the time, I met and/or knew many of the people in Rob's book. He gives an honest account of his experience with NSA, Equinox and Bill Gouldd in particular.

Most mlm books are either pro-mlm or anti-mlm. Very few things are all good or all bad. This book shows both sides and exposes the reason for the eventual downfall of what once was the fastest growing company in America. It is a real eye opener for those folks who think that network marketing doesn't require any real work. It also shows you the warning signs of bad leadership.

Read, learn and enjoy! It's a real rollercoaster ride!

Bill Gouldd - The Emporer Has No Clothes
As a business person and sales trainer who has dabbled in MLM, and loves it as a business concept, I have studied and observed Bill Gouldd and Advanced Marketing since the days of NSA. His success was hard to argue with, and his training methods had a certain logic - I found myself rooting for his success with Equinox.

I always wondered about the stories I would occasionally hear of an abusive meglomaniac, rather than a motivational messiah. The disciples on the testimonial videos seemed a little too robotic and rehearsed. So-called top producers closed offices and dropped out of sight.

Now comes the peek under Equinox's skirts provided by Rob Styler. When I go back to the old testimonial videos and see Rob spouting the company line, I almost feel sorry for him.

The book is great - a real page turner! A MUST for any fan of MLM.

Everything sounds so familiar....
Once you start reading it, and re-live everything you experienced personally in every chapter, you can't put it down. Really easy and entertaining to read. Makes you laugh and cry at the same time. I worked Equinox fulltime for a full year ... making little money and spending a whole lot more. It is amazing, what a good time you can have while going broke. I still think, network marketing is a great idea - the ultimate form of pure capitalism, but it is ultimately the integrity of the company and especially its leaders, which set the ethical standards. Whenever using half-truths and lies sneek into the culture of a company, it is doomed for failure - as Winston Churchill put it: "The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. Ignorance may deride it. But in the end, there it is." Great book, that might help you understand some things about MLM better.

Language Of Souls
Language Of Souls is heady and a delightful read. The artwork lends itself beautifully to the written work. The poetry of Mr. Taub, Ms. Frankovich and Mrs. Solomon holds your rapt attention. Definitely a must-buy book.

Language of Souls
This book, consisting of the poems of k.t. Frankovich, Ruth Solomon and David Taub, is beautifully presented with illustrations by Freydoon Rassouli.

The poems are positive and hopeful. And they are written in a form that can be easily understood. I enjoyed them immensely.

The language of images.
This book is quite a treasure. The artwork of Freydoon Rassouli is evocative and dreamlike adding a marvellous dimension to the language imagery of authors k.t., David and Ruth - an extraordinary trio of poets whose differing styles keep the reading fresh as they wander through topic and theme. I will remember and re-read 'The Precious Bag Lady', 'Winter Walk' (and other seasons) and 'Luminary Appropriations' and many others. I can recommend Language of Souls as a rich and rewarding reading.

Beach
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (October, 2000)
Authors: David Morgan and Ernesto Mestre-Reed
Average review score:

Sun Sand Surf and Speedos: Satyric Boys of Summer
They're not really boys anymore, yet, while they are physicaly mature, they still play like boys. THE BEACH is a thrilling mix: playful pixie, Peter Pan, meets the Olympian Gods on a vast beach. I wonder if the energy and creativity of boys is why they are so widely preferred to girls around the world (especially by women).

I have to be honest--I've never understood the appeal of beaches at all. Strangely, though, I love deserts [which some friends refer to as 'a beach with no ocean']. At any rate, this book may change my mind -- regarding some beaches at least.

While I've seen David Morgan's work for years, it wasn't until the "Global Groove" CD series that I actually paid attention to the photo credits. To say that this book is a real treat for the eyes is an understatement. The photography--all black and white here-- is just magnificent. The images are sensuous, and erotic, but never 'pronographic'; sexy without ever looking 'dirty'; great studies in natural & enhanced lighting, along with the human body in top form.

The pictures are appropriately playful and despite the beefiness of the bodies, never mean, threatening or hard looking (it's that boyish thing again). Like the mythical "peter Pan", the guys in these photos seem to be forever young, and in what is such an odd example of life imitating art, it seems that every year boys get younger while observers like me, go on, inexorably aging. There is a bit of the modern here (the sexy briefs many of the guys are sporting), but really, these pictures evoke the imagery suggested in ancient Greek, Roman and other Classical art, that celebrated, rather than exploited, the beauty of a well maintained body. But unlike Tom Bianchi who recreated the Classical formalism along with the god-like male imagery, BEACH suggests that when no one is looking, even the gods are still boys inside.

While there was no doubt a lot of effort that went into posing and composing for each phot, they somehow all manage to look spontaneouos and candid. And, unlike some of the modeling photography that David Morgan has done, these pictures exude a casual friendliness that is in many ways more effective than some of the more rigidly posed and arranged ad copy [check out the 2X-ist shots].

As stunning as the photography is here, this book does have a minor flaw: the prose. It is as noteworthy for its vapidity and insipidness and thephotography is for its aesthetic beauty and strength. Perhaps that is deliberate: Morgan is a photographer, and prefers that people buy books to see the pictures, rather than to read them. But, whatever the reasons for the bad writing, it can easily be ignored, since th phtots are what this book is really all about.

Taken over a 10 day period in the waning days of summer, BEACH makes for the kind of September one will always remember. Even when all those 'boys of summer' have left, you can always relive memories through delightful books such as this..

Celebrate the Artist and the Men!
David Morgan is a talent that you must behold. Working withhim on BASIC TRAINING (available here at Amazon.com) gave me aninsider's perspective of his artistic eye and natural talent as aphotographer. David's passion is performance and in his images, andwhat images these are, is a performance. Beach is his way of showingthe world his experience of Fire Island. These men are his friendsand this unique beach environment IS paradise. BEACH is a malecandyland, a summer fling, a celebration of being out and proud and ofcommunity. I am so proud of the work David and I created together andcelebrate this new collection of his. I know that people who admiregreat black and white photography, sensual imagery and a poetic textto bind these images together, will be fully satified with this book.

This is Art
David Morgan has secured his reputation as one of America's finest photographers---certainly our finest photographer of the male body. His photographs for the earlier book Basic Training help explain why that bestseller flew out of the stores, and although an impressionistic tale by Ernesto Mestre-Reed weaves through these pictures, they exist for themselves. These young men's sleek muscled bodies are bountiful, but it is Morgan's art that makes them beautiful. The restraint of the black-and-white plus Morgan's concern for pure form and outline is classical, and teach how beefcake can be exalted into art.

An excellent first textbook in Anaesthetics.
This book is well-presented, easy to read and, with the case scenarios presented at the end of each chapter, puts some of the most important clinical considerations in anaesthetics into a truly practical way. It is relatively small too, so that it is portable and can be referenced easily. All in all, an excellent book.

Goodbye, Geraldine

Goodbye Geraldine
What an amazing book. It is one of those books that when you start reading you can't put it down. Your living life with the author as he takes you into what it was like growing up in Duluth in a family that was just a little different. At times I had tears of joy, other times tears of anger, and still other times, tears of sadness. I would say the book is a cross between "Angela's Ashes" and "Tuesdays With Morrie". Both books that I rate as some of the best I have ever read.

I think it is a must read for anyone who grew up in the 50's, 60's, or 70's with a brother(s) and or sister(s) right around the same age. You get an idea of just how simple life was for you and your sibling while at the same time, just how serious it was.

It was obvious to me that the author really put emotion into each page, and you could feel his emotions right with him as you read. It's the type of book that I did not want it to end. After reading it, there will be a number of people mentioned and described in the book that you will wish you had the opportunity to meet.

Excellent!!!

From Valley To Mountain Top
I just finished reading the newly released "Goodbye, Geraldine" by Robert J. Morgan and found myself wanting more. This book will surely be on the NY Best Sellers List, and am confident that it will go into your favorites collection as well. It's an American success story, which will be magical on your heart and your mind. Taking nothing away from "Angela's Ashes", "Goodbye, Geraldine" delivers courage, strength and hope out of hardship and despair in a way that "Angela's Ashes" could not.

Goodbye, Geraldine
"Goodbye, Geraldine" is an human interest story showing the growth of a young boy into manhood in spite of obstacles during the post-depression/World War II era. Because I am well familiar with the area and most of the people of which the author writes, I can only verify that Robert J. Morgan has written about the times, the places, and the people exactly as they were. The story will bring tears to your eyes as well as chuckles and smiles to your face. It's a story of growth, honor, humility, faith, hope, and love. Above all it is the author's verification that all things are indeed possible in this great country of America. May I encourage all to read "Goodbye, Geraldine". You too will hope that Mr. Morgan plans to treat us to a second book.

Colorful and Catchy!
My 8 month old daughter has loved this book since we started reading it to her at 3 months! While she is not as interested in the rhymes yet, the illustrations are colorful and stimulating. It's a great starter book for infants that prefer pictures to words and yet also makes the transition when they start focusing on language as well. Parents will also find it more interesting for these reasons, which is good since you will be reading it over and over.

We love it!
My three month old LOVES this book! The rhyming really catches his attention and he loves to hear my husband and I make the animal noises as we read. It's such a silly book, I don't mind reading it over, and over, and over, and over... I think we like it more than our son!

My son loves this book!
My son has enjoyed this book from 2 months of age, and still loves it at 7 months! "Cow Moo Me" depicts different animals and some of their funny behaviors with beautiful illistrations and a simple rhyme. It's the one book we take wherever we go!
